December 31st, 2009 at 1:53 am

Mourners from around Australia have converged on the Victorian township of Traralgon for the funeral of six-year-old Sudanese refugee Bangoang Tut who was killed last Sunday by a runaway car while playing in his front yard.

Lutheran pastor Stephen van der Hoek says members of the Sudanese community from as far away as Perth and Adelaide are in Traralgon to attend Tuesday's funeral and give support to the family.

His church holds 200 people but Pastor van der Hoek expects at least 500 mourners will be in attendance.

Bangoang's father Nhial is a lay preacher at the church.

"The family is much loved and respected in town and Bangoang was much-loved," Pastor va der Hoek said.

"On the day he died Bangoang played King Herod in the church play."

The six-year-old was killed when a driver, who allegedly recorded three times over the legal limit, lost control of his car while doing burn-outs and ploughed into the front yard of Bangoang's Morwell home.

The family had moved from war-torn Sudan in 2004 and became Australian citizens in 2007.

Pastor van der Hoek said the funeral would be held in English and the Sudanese dialect of Nuer.

It is realy a sat news to hear. Pastor I would say pliz God gives and takes. Let us put our hope in him. we shall always be put in temptation like Job, but let us pray hard for almighty God is always on our side. This is a terrible lost to the family to the Sudanese community and may be to the rest of the world, because we can't tell how beneficial this young man was going to be. May his Soul rest in enternal Peace now and forever Amen.
